The Cause

Our event is raising funds to support the efforts of The Adam Fanaki Brain Fund.

Adam was a Toronto lawyer who, in 2020 and at the age of 51, died from glioblastoma--the most aggressive form of brain cancer. Adam’s wife, Janet and their two children, Isobel and Sam started the fund to honour Adam and to work through the grief of their loss.

“The fund’s goal is to provide some relief from the stress of living with cancer and offer some hope.”

Three years after Adam’s passing and with over $250,000 raised, the fund continues to raise money and awareness. Their goal is to support brain tumour patients and their families by funding programs with several worthy organizations.

One such program is Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Program, where a compassion fund has been established for brain tumour patients and caregivers who require financial assistance with items like transportation to medical appointments, meals, and other daily necessities. Funds raised from this event will continue the wonderful work of the Adam Fanaki Brain Fund and support this cause. Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Program is one of the largest cancer programs in North America.  In 2021-22, the Odette Cancer Centre had nearly 180,000 outpatient visits, more than 85,000 chemotherapy visits, and around 30,000 radiation visits With the help of donor support, Sunnybrook is the first hospital in Canada to offer a trio of highly specialized cancer ablation therapy machines that are changing the way we target tumours and enabling us to provide precision care to more patients. Please join us in helping to raise some funds for this important cause! Buy your tickets today!
